Windows 10 Build 18855 (20H1) major features

1. Notepad improvements

Although Notepad has not changed a lot since its launch, it still is one of the most popular Windows Store apps.

Previously, users were annoyed by the bug that led to data loss as a result of system restarts. This update comes with a solution to this specific problem by bringing an automatic restore feature.

2. Sandbox improvements

The update brings a couple of improvements for the Windows Sandbox. The Sandbox now offers microphone, high contrast mode and entering/exiting fullscreen mode support.

Furthermore, users can now use a Windows Sandbox config file to configure the audio input device. Moreover, the issue with the time zone has also been fixed. All of these features will be beneficial for the Windows 10 users.

3. Monitor bug fix

Microsoft has released monitor bug fixes related to the issues that were introduced by recent builds. The built-in Color Management application didn’t show up monitors. While few of the Insiders reported that monitor plug, lid close and monitor unplug had been triggering bug checks.

4. Explorer.exe issue fix

Insiders had been experiencing the crash of Explorer.exe application as a result of the update in the Jump list content. This bug has also been fixed in the recent update.

5. Narrator reading reliability issue

The users reported that they have been experiencing the Narrator reading reliability issue. The 18855 build has disabled the “Change how capitalized text is read” feature. It seems like it will be back after the bug fix.
