As usual, Microsoft announced several Windows 10 fixes and improvements that the build includes.
Linux file access in Windows 10
If you tried manipulating Linux files in Windows in the past, you would sometimes corrupt or lose them. Microsoft addressed that problem with WSL/File Explorer integration in Windows 10 version 1903.
With that change, it became easier to access Linux distributions from Windows.
Today, build 19603 improves that integration by enabling you to get to your Linux files from File Explorer’s left navigation pane.
To get view your distributions, start by clicking the Linux icon on the left-hand pane of File Explorer. Then select a distribution to access its Linux root file system.
We’ve had the ability to access your Linux files since Windows 1903, but now you can easily get to them from your left-hand navigation pane in File Explorer.
Recently, File Explorer received a couple of fluent design enhancements too.
Disk space optimization
You will be able to optimize your disk space in a more efficient manner after installing build 19603.
With the improved Storage Settings feature, you can see all your content in one page. This way, you can quickly view disk cleanup recommendations and spot any apps or files that are stretching you PC storage.
You may also see how much space you can save by removing redundant content, such as files you have synced to the cloud.
Offering space-saving recommendations is a welcome idea, especially since Windows 10 cannot always tell what you want to do with large or unused files. As such, you still can ignore the suggestions and keep important large files or uninstalled apps.
If you experience any issue with build 19603, feel free to report it to Microsoft for correction or improvement.
If the advices above haven’t solved your issue, your PC may experience deeper Windows problems. We recommend downloading this PC Repair tool (rated Great on TrustPilot.com) to easily address them. After installation, simply click the Start Scan button and then press on Repair All.
