Windows 10 For Phones Gets A File Manager App

Newly released Windows 10 Technical Preview for Windows Phone devices offers a lot of new features, but unfortunately only to a certain amount of users whose smartphones support the new OS. And one of these new features is Microsoft’s own File Manager app.

File Manager app is a great addition to the operating system, because users won’t have to bother to install third-party file explorers like they did before. Microsoft File Manager is very easy to use to manage the content on your device. This release includes everything you’ll need to manage your files, such as folders, multi-sections, searching, filters, etc.

The app’s interface is user friendly and very easy to use, as it features the breadcrumb trail that makes it easy to navigate through folders and different categories at the top. On the left side of the screen, you’ll find the Home button that will get you back to the landing area that shows recently viewed files. Lower from the Home button lays This Device icon and SD card icon (if you have one, of course).

You can delete, move, copy, share, rename and look for details of a certain file, when you hold your finger on it. When you want to move a file, you’ll be able to search through the File Manager app in order to locate the new location for the file.

These apps is currently available only for those who can run Windows 10 Technical Preview on their devices, but we expect from Microsoft to expand the list of supporting devices and add some more lower-end smartphones and tablets on it. This app will definitely be helpful to users, as they’ll be able to quickly manage the content on their devices. But we have to warn you that this app (well at least this early version) could be unstable, and it might crash sometimes while you’re using it.
