Windows 10 Kb4499167 Causes Ssd Errors And Deletes Folders

It looks like this Patch Tuesday cycle didn’t go well for some Windows 10 users. Many users took it to Microsoft’s forums to reports several issues caused by Windows 10 Cumulative Update KB4499167.

Microsoft released this patch to improve the stability of the Windows 10 OS. However, just like all the other updates, it came with some issues of its own.

According to one user who installed the update right after its release, folders saved on the SSD are no longer accessible. The user described the issue as follows:

The user fixed the issue by using System Restore to restore the OS to an earlier build. It is recommended that you should use Windows 10 Updates Troubleshooter Tool to block the update from installing on your Windows 10 system.

I have two SSD, one for system, one for data. Files on the data disk root opened OK, but not when in folders, and I got a message saying there was an I/O error. I ran chckdsk on the data disk, but it failed, saying it was because the disk was formatted as RAW.

Once you installed this tool on your system, you will see a list of available updates. You can simply hit the “Hide updates” button to hide KB4499167.
