Microsoft has recently earned its FIDO2 certification for Windows Hello. The company announced the feature would be included in Windows 10 May 2019 Update.

Good news for Windows 10 users! Microsoft says users running Windows 10 version 1903 will no longer need passwords to log in to their online services, apps, and devices.

This clearly means that you will use fingerprint sensors and facial-recognition technology to log in to  your Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Microsoft Edge accounts.

Programs such as Skype, Outlook.com, Xbox Live and Office 365 will require biometric verification from users.

Passwords are difficult to manage and that is why many Windows 10 users hate them. In fact, Microsoft itself acknowledged that its password expiration policies are of no use. That is why the company decided to get rid of them in Windows 10 version 1903.

As a quick reminder, FIDO2 certification allows any application or website to log in using Windows Hello. It is basically a biometric verification system by Microsoft will allow you to log into your account simply by looking at the screen of your laptop.

FIDO2 certification support coming to Chromium-based Edge

Microsoft plans to expand its password free approach to some support popular web browsers including the new Chromium-based Edge. Check if your new Windows 10 device comes with a FIDO Certified logo. This means that it supports this brand new feature.

This password-free approach is pretty much impressive and that is why the company encourages developers and companies to adopt it. If you are interested in this feature, you need to get the upcoming Windows 10 May 2019 Update.

Microsoft is all set to release the May 2019 Update later this month.
