Windows 10 Mobile build 14926 brings a series of interesting fixes and improvements, but as always, it also brings issues of its own. Thousands of Insiders are now unable to use their Windows phones because the terminals don’t detect the SIM card nor allow them to enter the PIN code.

After installing build 14926, many Insiders were surprised to see a strange message on their phones’ displays: “No SIM”. To make things worse, users can’t enter the PIN code and their terminals randomly restart.

Microsoft has officially acknowledged this issue and is working to find a fix as soon as possible.

Phone reports no sim, keyboard does not appear on text entry and Wi-Fi connects only when selected from list of available connections. No Wi-Fi symbol appears despite connection working after selection. Phone also appears to reboot from time to time with no messages.

With the release of build 14926 today, a handful of users have reported seeing a “No SIM” message on their device after completing the install. As this is not a scenario that was hit internally, we’d like your assistance in tracking this down.

This wasn’t seen internally or we would not have released this build.  We know Fast ring Insiders are willing to handle some painful scenarios, but this isn’t one we would intentionally put you all through!

According to user reports, this issue can be fixed by performing a hard reset. If you decide to try out this workaround, you should opt to use a back-up build in order to restore the content previously saved on your device.
