Thousands of users cannot switch out of Windows 10 S mode

Just got a windows surface laptop refurbished. Has Windows 10s . Have tried all the options to switch out and still no luck. Microsoft store lets me push the GET button but nothing happens. Trying anything around the command prompt is blocked because of S mode. Microsoft store is latest version. All windows and store update done.
Although the OP hasn’t been able to fix this issue by applying the latest updates, some users were luckier. After they contacted Microsoft Support and the support engineers installed the latest updates on their computers, the issue was quickly solved.
We are aware of the reports of people not being able to switch out of S mode right now. Please wait for a day or two and the issue would be hopefully resolved. Appreciate your patience.

I worked with MS Technical Support today and they resolved this issue for me by applying Windows updates to my computer.
It seems this Windows 10 S Mode issue is a recurrent problem for Microsoft. As a quick reminder, this bug affected many users in August as well.
