Microsoft released a handful of updates for every supported version of Windows during yesterday’s Patch Tuesday. The main starts of the Patch Tuesday are cumulative updates for Windows 10, but there are more updates still worth mentioning.
One of these updates is compatibility update KB3197099 for Windows 10 version 1607. According to Microsoft, this update enhances the upgrade experience to the latest version of Windows 10. Here’s what Microsoft says about the update in the official knowledge base post:
Microsoft hasn’t precise anything more about this update, so it remains unknown what exactly was enhanced in Windows 10’s upgrade experience. Judging to the size of this update, which is just around 300KB, we assume it just fixes one or two flaws in the process, nothing more.
“This update makes improvements to ease the upgrade experience to Windows 10 Version 1607.”
Despite its small size, Microsoft still recognizes this update as Critical, so it is advisable to all users to download it. To get this update on your computer, just head over to the Settings app > Update & security, and check for updates. The update should be downloaded and installed automatically, along with other updates available for your version of the system.
As for the cumulative updates, Microsoft released cumulative update KB3192440 for Windows 10 version 1507, cumulative update KB3192441 for Windows 10 version 1511, and cumulative update KB3194798 for Windows 10 version 1607.
