As we all know by now, today marked the 6th Patch Tuesday security update rollout for the current year, with Microsoft providing the usual tweaks and improvements.

  • Microsoft has released another build for Windows 11, 22000.739, during this month’s Patch Tuesday security update rollout.KB5014697 is a mandatory cumulative update that includes approximately 35 improvements and fixes, and the Windows Spotlight feature.You should know that it addresses an issue that fails to maintain the display brightness after you change the display mode.

Not only Windows 10 was targeted by this release, however, and Windows 11 users also received new software on this date.

There isn’t much to say about KB5014697, as it doesn’t bring the hefty changelog we got accustomed to over the months since it was officially released.

What’s new in Windows 11 Build 22000.739?

Know that KB5014697 is actually a mandatory cumulative update containing the June 2022 Patch Tuesday security updates for vulnerabilities discovered in previous months.

This cumulative update includes approximately 35 improvements and fixes, including the new Windows Spotlight for Desktop feature.

Similar to the Windows Spotlight feature on the lock screen, Windows Spotlight for Desktop will automatically rotate different Bing backgrounds on your desktop.

The Redmond company doesn’t offer much in the way of information about what to expect from the update, saying simply that it addresses security issues for your Windows operating system.

By that, it means that it also:

  • Addresses an issue that fails to maintain the display brightness after you change the display mode.
  • Addresses an issue that causes file copying to be slower.
  • Addresses an issue that affects the rendering of the default Widgets icon on a taskbar that is aligned in the center.
  • Addresses an issue that fails to automatically give the search box input focus when you select the Start menu and start typing.

As we said, there isn’t much to go on, as far as KB5014697 is concerned, but everyone surely appreciates that these ongoing issues have been finally fixed.
