Windows 7 End Of Support

Microsoft has already warned Windows 7 users that it is not going to support Office 2020 on Windows 7 devices.

Users will no longer receive security updates on their devices. Microsoft has already advised its users to upgrade to Office 365 and Windows 7.

Those who are not planning to upgrade will have to keep their devices vulnerable to threats and cyber-attacks.

That is the only reason Microsoft released a payment plan for the extended add-on support.

The only drawback is that it doubles every year and Microsoft will charge you on a per device basis.

In short you, will end up paying quite a nice sum over the course of 3 years for extended security updates.

Upgrade Notifications

The upgrade notifications are going to inform users about the end of support deadline. A link to the Microsoft site will also be there. Users can then click the link to find out more details regarding the end of support.

The notifications are not going to specifically mention the Windows 10 version you should install. In fact, the website is going to encourage users to either buy a new machine that comes with the latest version or upgrade the existing OS to the latest version.

Matt Barlow, the corporate vice president of Windows wrote in a blog post,

Most of the users find the desktop notifications are nothing but a big mess.

These notifications are designed to help provide information only and if you would prefer not to receive them again, you’ll be able to select an option for ‘do not notify me again,’ and we will not send you any further reminders.
