Box app receives update in Windows 8.1 to improve syncing After I’ve updated my Windows 8.1 Facebook app for the first time, I was surprised to observe that the developers behind the popular storage app Box have prepared an update, as well. To remind you, the official Windows 8 Box app will gift you 10 GB of free cloud storage that you can use to store your documents, pictures and anything else you might desire.
Just like with the Facebook update in Windows 8.1, I also didn’t manage to obtain an official changelog from Box regarding the update, but most likely, I suspect that it has to do with the fact that Microsoft has released the Windows 8.1 software upgrade. I am still waiting for a comment from Box on this matter, but I can confirm that the update did change a few things for me.
First of all, syncing the content on Box from my Windows 8 tablet, even from my Windows RT tablet seems to happen much faster than before. And when I login to my Box account from my computer, to the web app, I see that the files are immediately there. Now, I can’t say how big the improvement is, but I can confirm that for me it matters, as I upload tons of pictures almost daily to more than five different cloud storage providers.
Here is the link to the Windows 8 Box app if you haven’t installed it so far.
