There aren’t too many Hacker News apps in the Windows Store for Windows 8 users, but we have previously featured the HackerNews app, which has now received an update. Also, it has been rebranded into 8Hack. Read below for the improvements.
If you landed on this page, then most likely you too, just like me, are a reader of the Hacker News web portal, where there are plenty of interesting news and stories shared by tech-oriented persons. I’ve discovered the HackerNews app on Reddit, and now, I’ve been notified that an update was waiting to get downloaded and installed.

8Hack brings HackerNews to your Windows 8 tablet
HackerNews is no longer called like that, as the developer has chosen to rebrand it into 8Hack, most likely to help him differentiate the app from the rest. Besides the basic abilities of reading pages and comments from Hacker News, there’s also the option of sharing articles. Now, the latest update has added the ability to refresh the article list and view the next 5 pages. |Also, there’s now the option of loading the “newest” articles and the top nav bar for easy navigation has been included. Follow the link from below to get the app.
This is my first attempt at a HackerNews app for Windows 8. So far it only supports reading the linked article and the corresponding comments. I hope to soon implement the ability to load more pages, create accounts/login to existing accounts, and commenting. If you have a suggestion or request simply use the “feedback” option from the settings menu. Enjoy!
