Windows Maps Now Lets Users Submit Corrections For Inaccurate Maps

Microsoft released its mapping service and application for Windows 10, Windows 10 Mobile, Xbox One and Microsoft HoloLens as a Universal Windows Platform app. From time to time, Windows Maps is updated and Fast Ring Insiders have just received the new build 5.1611.3191.0, which can be installed on both computers and smartphones.

Windows Maps version 5.1611.3191.0 doesn’t bring any major features, but it lets users give feedback and helps developers correct inaccurate maps or solve other map issues.

The company encourages users to report any problem they find in this application. They can even tell if search isn’t finding something they want or if Windows Maps suggests a hospital instead of an Italian restaurant.

In this Maps update, you can now tell us if something is wrong with the map itself, such as a missing road or a city name in the wrong language, just by pointing and describing what’s wrong.

The previous update for Windows Maps was released a few weeks ago and version 5.1610.2953.0 was available only for Windows 10. This update, which took up less space, allowed users to easily organize their favorites or to make lists with different places. Another minor change showed a user’s home, work and the place where the car was parked at the top of the favorites list.

In order to sign up for the Windows Insider Program for PC, users will head to All Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update >Advanced Options > Get Insider Preview > Get started. Then, hit Next, Confirm and Restart Now. After the computer restarts, users will need to get back to the Get Insider Preview builds area where they will choose which Insider Ring they want to join: Release Preview, Slow, or Fast.
