If you own a Windows XP computer and you can’t sign into your account, you’re not the only one. This is a general problem affecting many Windows XP users, but the good news is that Microsoft is already working on a fix.

Users report that the sign in process never completes, leaving them unable to connect with their contacts. General troubleshooting steps, such as logging off or restarting the PC fail to fix this problem.

Here’s what Microsoft said about this issue:

In other words, if you can’t sign into Skype at the moment, there’s no point in resorting to complicated troubleshooting steps. The issue is on Microsoft’s end. Hopefully, the company will manage to fix it as soon as possible.

We are aware of an issue with signing into Skype on Windows XP. Our engineers are working on it and we will let you know as soon as services get restored.

As a quick reminder, this is not the only major issue that hit Skype this month. Thousands of Skype users could not send or receive messages last week. Fortunately, Microsoft managed to fix the problem in less than 24 hours.
