There is nothing more frustrating for a game video fan than to see your friends log on to play your favorite game when you don’t own it as well. But fortunately, it looks like begging your friends to buy you games is about to get much easier as long as you’re the happy owner of an Xbox One.

The new gaming gifting feature is coming to the Xbox One Store

Microsoft is planning to add a game gifting feature to the Xbox One Store which will allow gaming buddies to send titles to each other in a more efficient and streamlined way.

This great news was revealed by Xbox vice president Mike Ybarra on his Twitter account. The new feature doesn’t have a release date yet, but what we do know is that it will work the same way it does on other game download services such as Steam on PC.

You will get the option to gift a particular game to a friend when you complete a purchase and after it’s accepted, the recipient can download that title and finally add it to their own game library.

The best option for gifting your friends

When using gift cards, remaining balances may be forgotten about and can expire, leading to a messy process overall. This way, paying for the games upfront and then sending them to whomever you want to is the best way to gift your friends with games.

This is fantastic news, especially because Xbox One fans have been requesting a feature like this for quite a long time. We might even say it’s a bit surprising that it’s taken so long!
