Microsoft rolled out build 14361 for Windows phones and PCs last week, and now Xbox One owners can enjoy a treat: the company is rolling out the Xbox One Summer Preview to Insiders and with it, a series of interesting features.
We all knew the tech giant would do so as it recently sent out invites at the beginning of June. This update prepares Xbox One consoles for the final Windows 10 Anniversary Update, which is expected to take the Windows 10 experience to the next level.
The Xbox One Summer Preview will bring new features that will make the Xbox One even more user-friendly:
- Cortana on Xbox One: In the Preview version, this feature is available only to users from the US, UK, France, Italy, Germany and Spain. You can use both your headsets and Kinect to give voice commands to Cortana. You can use Cortana to find new games, see what your friends are playing, accomplish common tasks, and more.
- New Game Collection: The Game Collection interface has been updated to more easily locate games.
- Facebook Friend Finder on Xbox One: Find and add your Facebook friends on Xbox. You will also see friend suggestions for Facebook friends, with the option of inviting them to play together a particular game.
- Improved sharing on Xbox One: It’s easier to share your screenshots, GameDVR clips, and achievements on Xbox One. This is the perfect opportunity to see if your friends lie when they boast about holding the first place on leaderboards. And if you want to show off your skills, you can now share your most epic clips and captures with the community.
Another important development is the convergence of the Xbox and Windows Stores, an essential part of Microsoft’s cross-platform compatibility strategy. This means that Windows 10 games will also be available on the Xbox One and that developers will soon be allowed to develop for both platforms.
