Party chat speech transcription, tested by Microsoft

According to the latest news released by the tech giant, Xbox will have a few surprises for the players with any hearing or speech difficulties.

These improvements to the accessibility features will give the above-mentioned fans the ability to more actively participate in the group chats.

The new feature is available starting today, for the Microsoft Insiders, for further testing.

Even though the speech-to-text and text-to-speech features have been introduced to the console since 2017, the company felt like there is still much room for improvement.

And, yes, you guessed it! The big news is that these features are now going to be a part of the in-game voice chat.

How will this influence party chat?

Basically, when you enable speech-to-text transcription, all words spoken by the people in the party will be converted into readable, displayed in an adjustable overlay on top of the actual gameplay.

If you chose to turn on text-to-speech synthesis, you can type into Party Text Chat and then have a synthetic voice read your text to every other player involved.

Here’s another great use for either one of these features, used separately or both at the same time. You can use them for detecting microphone problems or distinguishing game audio from people in the party talking.

How do I turn party chat speech transcript and synthesis on?

If you were under the impression that just activating these useful features was going to be a nightmare, think again. Just access the Settings menu, select Ease of access, and then Game and chat transcription.

Great to know that Microsoft spends so much time devising new ways to improve the overall gaming experience that you commit to when purchasing a console.
