Having Microsoft Account registered is a must if you want to reach the full potential of Windows 10. You can actually use a local account, as well, but you won’t be able to use some essentials, like syncing your files with OneDrive. At first look, it appears that you must login to your Microsoft Account to download apps from Windows Store, but it can also be done with your local account, and I’m going to show you how. When you sign in the Microsoft Store, with your Microsoft ID, it will convert your local account into the Microsoft Account, not only for the Sore, but for the whole computer. And if you want to download apps with your local account, you just need to perform one easy trick.

  • Download DriverFix (verified download file).

  • Click Start Scan to find all problematic drivers.

  • Click Update Drivers to get new versions and avoid system malfunctionings.

  • DriverFix has been downloaded by 0 readers this month.

Here’s how to use Windows Store and download apps with your local account:

  • Open Windows Store (use whichever method, Start menu, taskbar, Cortana, it doesn’t matter)
  • Click on the person icon in the upper right corner of the window
  • Select Microsoft Account in the popup that will appear and enter your email and password
  • Okay, now you need to be careful in order to skip signing in to your Microsoft Account. Microsoft wants you to convert your local account to a Microsoft Account, but there’s an option for avoiding that (however it’s not so prominent, and you can easily miss it). So, instead of entering your password, click on the link below, which says Sign in to just this app instead

That’s it, you can now browse the Store and download apps with your local account, so you don’t have to the Microsoft Account.

Some people want to avoid using the Microsoft Account whenever is possible, because they’re worried about their security and privacy while they’re signed in. But, as I said it’s required for a lot of actions in Windows 10. So, if you still want to stick with your local account, you now know how to download apps, at least.
