In less than a week, Santa Claus will bring us presents. He will carry his bag around the world and fulfill wishes, but he will need your help to find out what your loved ones want for Christmas. So, if you want to be your own Santa or make a big surprise, Microsoft will make it possible by cutting down prices of some of its products — and the Lumia 950 XL flagship phablet is on the list. On Microsoft’s store, you’ll also find the HP Elite x3 smartphone at $649, $150 off its normal price.
Usually, the Lumia 950 XL costs $499 but until December 24, Microsoft will sell it for $299, although the phone won’t be shipped out with a free Display Dock because it’s out of stock. Any Windows 10 Mobile device can be turned into a mini laptop by connecting it to an external monitor and a keyboard, thanks to the Continuum feature and the Display Dock ($99) is an adaptor needed for the Lumia 950 / XL to run a full PC-like desktop experience.
The price of the smaller Lumia 950 was also reduced by 38% ($150), but it’s no longer in stock on the Microsoft Store. Unfortunately, if you live in the UK, you won’t find the Lumia 950 XL on the store either.
As for the Elite x3, it’s HP’s latest Windows 10 Mobile flagship that features a huge 5.96-inch display that supports QHD resolution. Inside, it houses a Qualcomm MSM8996 Snapdragon 820 chipset that supports a quad-core (2×2.15 GHz Kryo & 2×1.6 GHz Kryo) processor and 4GB of RAM and the storage is expandable from 64GB up to 256GB with a microSD card.
Its primary camera is 16MP and offers standard features such as autofocus and LED, while the secondary camera has half of its resolution. A giant phone like this requires a large battery and HP has provided a 4150 mAh cell to handle hours of gaming, surfing the web or chatting on messaging apps.
