Online Legal service provider Barefootlaw Uganda has introduced an SMS service that will enable mobile subscribers in Uganda to access legal information through text messaging for Free.
The announcement was made by Gerald Abila, the Barefootlaw founder on his Facebook account. This will further extend legal services to those with basic phones that aren’t internet enabled.
How it works
Simply join Ureport by typing “Join” and send to 8500 and follow prompts, after joining, you can then start using BarefootLaw by typing keyword “Law”, your question and send to 8500. The service is absolutely free of charge and you can send as many SMS as you wish.
The organization previously partnered with Bribespot international to reduce petty corruption in the community through whistle blowing on anonymous and secure online portals. Prior to that, Barefootlaw also introduced a live video conference solution where users can reach a lawyer by way of video. The legal service provider is majorly using Facebook and Skype to extend free legal services to Ugandans that have access to internet.
