We all know how important it is for giant companies to listen to customer feedback and actually make changes based on said requests.

  • It was about time that Microsoft stopped using temporary solutions and come up with a genuine reaction button for Word. Now, you no longer have to type +1 in order to convey your reaction, as you can simply give the new Like button a click. The introduction of this new feature is mainly based on the feedback received from multiple Microsoft clients over the time.

Thus, after hearing feedback from users, Microsoft has announced a new feature that is coming to Word for the web.

And, in order to make collaboration in Word documents more effective, the tech giant has announced react to comments, enabling users to convey their reaction to a comment.

Get ready to react to your favorite comments in Word

Before you get overly excited, do not confuse this with what you have on other social media platforms like WhatsApp.

If you were wondering what Microsoft has in fact done, it added a new Like button on the top right corner of the commenter’s feedback.

So, instead of typing +1 to convey your agreement, you can now click the new button to accomplish the same result.

But what if you misclick? Don’t worry, as you can remove your reaction as easily as you conveyed in the first place, by clicking the button again.

Furthermore, if a comment contains multiple likes, hovering over the mouse over the ‘Like’ button will display the list of usernames that have liked the comment.

The above-mentioned list will be updated in real-time while you collaborate your Word document on the web.

You should also know that Microsoft is currently rolling out the new Like button to all users in Word for the web.

That being said, the company has also outlined some known issues, as with pretty much all of the software releases nowadays.

For example, ollaborators on other platforms such as Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android cannot see the comment reactions.

Another important detail you should take into consideration is that comment reactions may not be available when editing older documents.

The Redmond tech company has also promised that it will add notifications and support for reactions to more platforms pretty soon.

We’ll keep an eye open and inform you of the latest changes once they become available. Until then, make sure you inform us of any concerns or reservations you may have in the comments section below.
